Why is my cat acting so odd?
OK, we have had Lucy since June of this year and when we get her she was about 8 weeks prehistoric. We got her fixed and all that perfect stuff. About a month ago we got a new kitten that be probably about 4-5 weeks old (the woman lied about the kitten's real age). Anyways, Lucy resisted Pudgy at first but presently they seem to be best friends.
A couple of weeks ago, Lucy started acting really strange. First of all, she isn't keeping her bottom nouns very clean. I hold never owned cats before this year...but I have also never see a cat do the dog butt-scoot until then. She actually did that and get poop all over the bathroom rug and the carpet. I held her down while my fiance took a drizzling washcloth to try to clean her, but she is still not cleaning herself.
We are also having issues next to odor control. We now have 2 cats within a one bedroom apartment and I can't seem to find a litter that will get rid of the odor. Today, I go to clean out the litter box to find that now Lucy isn't even bothering to cover her poop.
What is going on beside this cat? I have read that she could be overweight...and when I picked her up I couldn't feel her ribs. She also meows loudly when you pick her up...almost resembling its uncomfortable for her to be picked up.
So, my question is....what is going on near this crazy cat? She has always be different. She used to play more...but now that she is older she isn't nearly as helpful as she used to be. Could she just be overweight? We did recently swing her litter - but we changed it back after I tried another brand. She has used this litter surrounded by the past with no difficulty. I should also tag on that we have a covered litter box and they both use it.

Sounds like she may have a blockage or is constipated. I would steal her to the vet. As for kitty litter, I recommend Tidy Cats multiple, it's the best that I have found for odor control. Hope your cat gets better.
I hold a cat named Lucy too. What you describe does not sound resembling normal behavior, it's possible that Lucy may need a wellness checkup beside your veterinarian. Also, try to bring a stool sample with you to the vet so they can check it for lice.
Sounds like tapeworm. (Itchy-butt-syndrome, if you will - lol)
I'd filch her into the vet to get her de-wormed, and also do some bloodwork to make sure she's well. Cat's often change behavior when they are below par.
I use "Special Kitty" (green) clumping litter from Wal-Mart. I used to use the expensive stuff, but once I discovered "Special Kitty" and how little it dusted up, I was sold. Also, in standard cats don't like scented litter. They have need of to smell their own poo to know they've covered it (just in case your litter is scented).
Good luck to you! Source(s): Volunteer/Foster, Animal Services
